Don’t let your friends text & drive!

text-driving Some believe that texting while driving is more dangerous then driving drunk. I admit I’ve sent a few text messaging while driving but some of you may wonder what’s the harm of a couple of quick key stroke to let your buddy know you’re “running late.” The problem is that texting forces people to take their eyes off the road. The 20 seconds used to send a message can be the difference between life and death. The number of cellphone related accidents have increased over the last year.

Do you text message while driving? Do you think it should be banned?

My Twenty-1st Birthday!

So it’s official after all the weekend festivities I am official twenty-one! Here is a re-cap of my wonderful weekend, a three day celebration.

Friday

began with a small scavenger hunt I made up for a few lucky friends. There were 21 items worth different amounts of points and the team that completed the most items and collected the highest amount of points won! Tasks varied from finding an out-of province license plate to getting a piggy back from a stranger.

After a hour around town searching for objects and embarrassing themselves we met for some tapas and drinks at Ebisu on Robson. A Japanese Restaurant Lounge featuring some of the best deals for drinks in town. My favorite part of meal was when the waitress brought out my my cupcake tier and they played “Happy Birthday” through the restaurant’s sound system. Some good eats and 3 pitchers of sangria later we were ready to move the party.

I decided to finish the night off with a Bubble Party at Gossip Nightclub. I must say I do love Fridays @ Gossip Night Club hosted by Independent Entertainment. Why wait until Saturday? TGIF!

GIRLYs @ Gossip

My friends and I joined 1000+ of Vancouver’s hottest party people and danced the night away. Also Celebrating their birthdays that day with me was JKol & Andy. Happy birthday boys!

JKol & I celebrating in style

On Saturday,

I woke up with blisters on my feet. Note to self: do not wear new shoes dancing! I decided I wanted to spend my actual birthday lounging on the beach. After an afternoon of soaking up the sun a special someone cooked me a delicious dinner. To top the night off I got my curry fish-balls and purchased a hello kitty beach towel from the Richmond Night Market.

Sunday

was no disappointment. Completed the grouse grind in a hour and fifteen minutes (considering my sore quadriceps and blistered feet I was impressed with my time). Later that evening I had my family and closest friends come over for a hello kitty themed party, “Ctina’s Kitty Kaboodle!”

Hello Kitty Dress Code

I invited everyone to dress in Hello Kitty attire and unleash their inner child. Refusing to act my age I spent the day surrounded by lots of balloons and hello kitty party goodies. There was even HK Trivia! The icing on the cake had to be the cake! Special thanks to Elisa who made me a special hello kitty strawberry cheesequake ice cream cake!

I had a wonderful weekend and wanted to thank everyone for the birthday wishes and participating in all my silly activities.

xoxo

OMG you’re not on Twitter!

At the most recent Lavish meeting I suggested hosting a twitter contest to help promote our next event, Doll Domination. I looked around the room and noticed a bunch of confused blank faces. Jana & I couldn’t believe that we were the only ones on twitter! So like I promised I’m going to offer a quick twitter 101 to get the ladies hooked on twitter.

What is twitter?

“Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?”

Watch this video made by the common craft show and it’ll explain to you what exactly twitter is in plain English.

Why use twitter?

    1. Receive news, media and sale updates first!
    2. Share links and info
    3. Connecting with people quickly
    4. Share what you’re doing with friends and family
    5. Expand your network, and make new friends!

Have You Got the Spending Bug?

Spending Bug

Spending Bug

Whether it’s keeping up with the latest summer trends or your inability to resist a good party, the money flu is highly contagious at this time of year. With my bank balance slowly decreasing I’ve narrowed down my money problems to 3 causes.

1. I can’t separate my “wants” from my “needs”
So the sun is out and it’s time to hit the beach and a cute bikini is essential, but do I really need a new one? We’re all guilty of spending on the non-essentials but don’t put off paying your bills just because you’ve convinced your self you “need” something else. You may end up with 4 new bikinis to choose from like me.

2. I can’t resist the sales
A fashionista’s biggest weakness is a Sale. “Two for One” or “50% off” usually justifies most of my purchases. Stop telling your self that you’re saving money in the long run. Trust me, more often then not you end up with tons of stuff you don’t need or will never wear.

3. I struggle to keep up with my friends
Friendship can be an expensive habit, what with cash-draining nights out and birthdays to chip in for. But here’s the good thing, true friends will understand if you can’t split the bill or you’re sticking to soft drinks for awhile.

If these 3 money problem causes seem awfully familiar then you too might have the spending bug. Splurging once and awhile seems harmless but without control it can lead to mounting debts and result in an empty piggy bank.

My First Post

So here it is, my first post on my brand new blog. This website was suppose to launch in January 2009 as my “New Year’s Project” but as you can tell since it’s almost summer time I’ve procrastinated a little bit. The last couple of days I’ve spent hours upon hours thinking about how to make my blog better than the other guys. It’s sadly become a time consuming obsession. So my message to everyone out in the blog-osphere: “Hello and welcome to my online home!” If you have any tips for a newb blogger, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

Stay tune for more updates :)
